Inspirational Talk for Future Economists: RES UK Women in Economics Network (UK WEN) at UCL

Date: 25 February 2026

Time: 4:00 – 5:30pm

Venue: G12 Torrington Place (Lecture Theatre room G12 | Estates – UCL – University College London)

Join us for an inspiring talk with Dr Swati Dhingra, who will share her personal career journey in economics and reflect on the experiences that have shaped her path across academia and public policy.

In this session, Dr Dhingra will speak about her progression in the economics profession, key decisions and turning points along the way, and the lessons she has learned from navigating the discipline. Drawing on her own experiences, she will offer insight into what it means to build a career in economics, both inside and beyond academia, and the realities of the profession at different stages.

This event is especially dedicated to inspiring and encouraging students from underrepresented groups in economics, including women and students from minority backgrounds. It aims to build confidence, provide visible role models, and help students feel supported in pursuing and remaining in economics.

The event is open to all students at the University College London (UCL). This event is sponsored by the UCL Economics Department, and is organised in collaboration with the Royal Economic Society UK Women in Economics Network (UK WEN) and the Economists’ Society (UCL).

Event organisers: Dr Dunli Li (UCL), Dr Hyejin Ku (UCL), Dr Maria Psyllou (Imperial College London and UK WEN), and the Economist’s Society (UCL).
