Recognition

Fellowship of the Royal Economic Society (RES) provides professional recognition for those who have made a significant contribution to the discipline. Accepted Fellows are entitled to use the postnominals FREcon after their name.

Who can apply?

We encourage anyone who has made a significant contribution to economics, whether in academia, teaching (including in schools), policy, the private sector, charity sector or beyond, to apply.

Apply to become a Fellow of the Royal Economic Society and help us ensure economics is understood, advanced and applied for the maximum benefit of society and the world around us.

The Fellows panel meets twice a year to review applications. The next panel meeting will take place in May 2026. 

Benefits for Fellows

The Annual fee for Fellows is £200 (bursary rate available). VAT is applicable for those residing in the UK and EU.
